P and I have been working ceaselessly to complete our move.  Tackling the to-do list has been a Sisyphean task, and with P’s start date fast approaching, we began to fear that we might not have any time to unwind from the big move before our new jobs begin.  We got our affairs sufficiently in order that we could take a few days off, scrambled to find a kennel and meet its specific vaccination requirements, and began planning our long-awaited vacation.

We decided that we wanted a relaxation-centered trip and took a look at the 10-day forecast.  It has been raining nearly the entire time we’ve been in Switzerland, and we are very ready for some warm, sunny weather.  That’s one of the neat things about living in the middle of so many different places – we can take a last-minute trip to get out from under the rain clouds!  We narrowed our options to the Greek Isles and the French Riviera, then began pricing things out.  After much Googling and deliberation, we decided on a 7-day trip through the South of France!

We did not to plan too much, as we enjoy some spontaneity in our vacations.  (We like to feel free to enjoy where we are, follow our curiosity, and not obligate ourselves to follow a checklist of sights and activities.)  We didn’t want to completely wing it either though, so we booked our lodgings and prepared a tentative itinerary.  We wanted to enjoy as many little luxuries as reasonably possible without breaking the bank, so between Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Airbnb, we were able to come up with a nice, fairly budget-friendly holiday.
